Shannon Flynn, Director, Nickelodeon: Shannon Flynn is an accomplished, energetic and thriving film and television director. She has directed a wide array of hit shows, including AwesomenessTV’s Betch Sketch, Nick Jr.’s Mutt and Stuff (produced by the legendary Sid and Marty Krofft) and TV Land’s Instant Mom. Currently, she is in preproduction for a new show with ABCDigital. After which, Shannon will start production on her first full-length feature film. Other directing credits include, Disney Channel’s Bunk’d, Best Friends Whenever, Jessie, Liv & Maddie and Austin & Ally, Nickelodeon’s Bella and the Bulldogs, The Thundermans, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn and The Haunted Hathaways, DisneyXD’s Mighty Med, Hannah Montana, Good Luck Charlie, Marvin Marvin and How to Rock. In addition, she has directed webisodes for Marvin Marvin, industrial videos for PepsiCo, and is the creator/producer of the web comedy series, Voodoo Skidoo. Shannon began her career mentored by director Lee Shallat Chemel on such hit series Gilmore Girls, Bernie Mac and Arrested Development. After founding the award-winning theatre company The Hunger Artists (serving as Artistic Director), Shannon returned to school and received her MFA in Directing from the prestigious Yale School of Drama.


Kaj Larsen, Producer/Journalist/Correspondent, VICE: Kaj Larsen was born in Santa Cruz, California, and graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a degree in Political Science.  At Harvard University he received his Masters degree in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. At Harvard, Kaj was awarded a fellowship from the Shorenstein Center for Press, Politics, and Public Policy. He was also a joint fellow at Tufts Jebsen Center for Counter-Terrorism studies. His focus includes international security policy, media politics, and political affairs. Kaj is an award winning correspondent and producer for VICE News.  He runs news operations as the Los Angeles Bureau Chief for VICE. At VICE Kaj has produced documentaries on conflict and national security issues. He is the only journalist to be embedded in the Nigerian fight against Boko Haram, and the first exclusive interview with the architect of the CIA’s enhanced interrogation program. Prior to Vice Kaj was a correspondent at CNN as a member of CNN’s Special Investigations and Documentary unit. His on-camera career began in 2005 when he covered the war in Afghanistan for Current TV.  At Current TV Kaj helped develop the Emmy Award winning Vanguard Journalism series.  He was the first journalist to bring the issue of waterboarding to the public by having himself waterboarded on TV.   He broke the media silence on Somalia by being the first western TV journalist in Mogadishu in over a decade. He has since gone on to report from war zones and conflict spots around the world, in places such as Yemen, Cambodia, Colombia, and Haiti. In 2010 Kaj joined CNN as a correspondent for the Special Investigations and Documentary unit. At CNN his feature documentaries have covered topics ranging from the drug war in Mexico to the devastating floods in Pakistan to Wikileaks.  His reporting is distinguished by his in-field and in-depth examination of difficult and dangerous topics around conflict zones, national security, and criminal justice. Kaj’s intrepid reporting and powerful filmmaking has put him at the vanguard of a new broadcast journalism.  He frequently appears on other media outlets such as ABC, NBC, MSNBC, and the Huffington Post.  He was the senior correspondent and host of The Current Election, a daily show about politics and public policy.  As a producer Kaj has created hit television series such as US Navy Pirate Hunters, a one-hour special for Spike TV, and LOCKUP the highly rated show about life in American prison for air on MSNBC. He was Aaron Sorkin’s private consultant on the hit HBO series Newsroom. His work has earned him critical acclaim including an Emmy nomination, a Peabody nomination, two Telly awards, and several Golden Cine awards. Prior to his work in television journalism, Kaj spent five years on active duty serving as a US Navy SEAL.  As a Lieutenant he led a team of special warfare personnel in covert operations overseas deploying as a detachment Commander in support of the Global War on Terrorism.   He continues his service as a SEAL reserve officer assigned to US Special Operations Command. Kaj is a two time national champion open-water swimmer, and placed third in the Escape from Alcatraz duathalon.  Kaj has lived extensively overseas, including Thailand, where he studied Muay Thai boxing.  He is a practitioner of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and frequently competes in mixed martial arts competitions. Kaj used his pay from the service to help launch The Mission Continues, and continues to serve on the Board of Directors.  Kaj also serves on the boards of advisors to organizations Team Rubicon and Veterans in Film and Television.


Dennis Radeke, Content Development Manager, Adobe: Dennis Radeke has spent over eleven years at Adobe working with customers both large and small.  He loves to communicate his passion for Adobe technology and to find solutions that make people successful.  Dennis originally focused on Adobe’s video products and helped make Adobe Premiere Pro the market leader, but has recently moved over to the Adobe Stock team as the Content Development Manager to grow the motion content library with stock footage and other moving assets


ROBERT RAMIREZ, Digital Media Producer, Netflix: Robert Ramirez has a wealth of experience in digital video production and distribution, as well as localizing content.  He establishes and maintains partnerships with distributors and vendors for Netflix and has served as a digital content specialist for the Global Indies and Latin America.  Before joining Netflix in 2012, Ramirez was a manager and home entertainment associate producer for Viz Media and a video production coordinator for LiveNote.  Ramirez earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast & Electronic Electronic Communications arts from San Francisco State University.


JOSHUA LEVINE, Entertainment & Technology Marketing – Writer, Producer & Creative Director: Native Angeleno and Swiss Army knife of Hollywood know-how, Joshua Levine has been a writer and producer of independent film and television for HBO and Showtime, creative director at the innovative advertising boutique, Goodspot, and a crafter of pithy one-sheet taglines and cliché-rich trailer narration for billion-dollar blockbusters and micro-budget critical darlings. He’s currently a key cog in a well-oiled in-house marketing machine for the international entertainment technology corporation, Rovi, while simultaneously gilding the final draft of his first novel.


Jon Reiss, Filmmaker/Author/Digital Strategist: Jon Reiss is an author and media strategist who helps filmmakers and companies navigate the new distribution and marketing landscape. He has worked with and consulted for Paramount Pictures, Screen Australia, Film Independent, Creative Scotland, The South Australian Film Corporation and numerous film schools and festivals to devise ways to educate and help independent filmmakers in the new economic landscape.    He has conducted his TOTBO Master Classes over five continents and is the year-round distribution and marketing lab leader at the IFP Filmmaker Labs. Named one of “10 Digital Directors to Watch” by Daily Variety, Jon Reiss is also critically acclaimed filmmaker whose experience releasing his feature Bomb It with a hybrid strategy was the inspiration for writing Think Outside the Box Office: The Ultimate Guide to Film Distribution and Marketing in the Digital Era (TOTBO), the first step-by-step guide for filmmakers to distribute and market their films.  He also co-wrote Selling Your Film Without Selling Your Soul and Selling Your Film Outside the US.   He also teaches at the Film Directing Program at Cal Arts.
