Stephen Strong is vice president, head of revenue for over-the-top video news network Newsy, an E.W. Scripps Company Brand. Stephen oversees sales and business development across all platforms, including OTT and CTV, audio and out-of-home and video syndication. With a strong background in the digital video space, Stephen works to create a premium content experience that drives meaningful revenue and audience engagement, and with technology platforms to conceive new ways to deliver and distribute Newsy products. Prior to joining Newsy in 2015, he worked in the digital video space at AOL and Viacom. Stephen resides in New York City with his wife Marissa and daughter Sadie.

 

Ted Malone, Vice President of Planning and Strategy, TV & Media, Ericsson: Ted Malone is Vice President of Planning and Strategy for Solution Area TV & Media at Ericsson, where he is responsible for long term product planning and business strategy for the company’s digital TV products, including Mediaroom (IPTV platform), MediaFirst TV Platform, Video Storage and Processing Platform (cloud DVR) and MediaFirst Video Processing (software compression). With more than 25 years of experience of product planning and pro duct management, Ted maintains a track record of success and expertise in the TV market. Prior to his role at Ericsson (and Microsoft Mediaroom), Ted spent two years as Vice President of Product Marketing and Product Management at Sling Media. Previously, he served as Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Marketing for Digital Deck and as the Senior Director of Product Marketing at TiVo. Earlier in his career, Ted held senior positions at Alias/Wavefront, where he developed the product requirements and managed the development team for the creation of the Zap!iT digital video software line, which was later integrated into Maya, and at Silicon Graphics’ Silicon Studio, where he led the studio production group. Ted holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University.

 

Will Marks came to Ovation from OnCue, a Verizon company, where he was Head of Accounts. In this role, he led the company’s relationships with TV, film, music and digital partners and oversaw West Coast programming, production and live event partnerships. Key accomplishments during his tenure include his leading and expanding Go90’s relationship with Dreamworks Animation / Hearst Corp’s AwesomenessTV, and supervising the partnership with Live Earth, a worldwide concert dedicated to reducing climate change.  Previously, Marks was General Manager of Monkey Wrangler Productions, where he initiated, led and closed all negotiations with Microsoft Xbox, Toyota Motor Co. and Saatchi LA to produce and air Your Dungeon, My Dragon, the first-ever fully integrated episodic show and game production on Microsoft’s Xbox Live platform.  Prior to Monkey Wrangler, he was Vice President, Business Development for Comcast Entertainment Group where he had P&L responsibility for non-linear video distribution businesses, including digital download/electronic sell-through, DVD, VOD/PPV, broadband/online video, and out-of-home networks.

 

Evan Greenberg, Manager of Audience Development, TAPP; an OTT, a la carte, collection of online subscription channels, connecting super-fans to the personalities they can't get enough of. Evan leads TAPP's Customer Acquisition initiatives and supports Big Data and Overall Strategy projects. Evan joined TAPP after working for a number of media companies, including Warner Bros. and Maker Studios, focusing on Digital Monetization, Audience Growth, and Lifecycle Marketing. Steve Wong, Director of Business Development, Media & Entertainment Group, Hewlett Packard Enterprise: Steve is the Director of Business Development Media & Entertainment Group for Hewlett Packard Enterprise and is serial start-up media and entertainment internet infrastructure person who enjoys putting first-ever disruptive technology in the hands of billions. Steve was recognized with a 2007 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development for the Teranex Video Computer. Steve is a Member of the Interactive Media Peer Group of The National Academy of Television Arts& Sciences (The Emmy Awards). He is an Executive Academy Member of The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (The Webby Awards). In addition, Steve is a Hollywood Section Manager of The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers® (SMPTE®). For fun, Steve writes and produces independent feature films. Steve also is a visiting lecturer at the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and a mentor at the USC Incubator (startusc.com), a program for high-potential startups founded by USC students, alumni and faculty/staff.  Steve began his career in broadcasting working for Belo Broadcasting and then moved to ABC Capital Cities (purchased by Disney) as Director of Research and Development. In this role, Steve experimented with broadcasting live news on the internet with Cu-Seeme back in 1995. During the times of broadcast conversion from Analog to Digital, Steve used his knowledge of broadcasting to advice stations on broadcast equipment while at Leitch technologies (purchased by Harris then purchased by Imagine) During the times of broadcast and post production conversion from Standard Definition to High Definition, Steve joined a Department of Defense Military technology spin-off start up (Teranex) that used Parallel computing for video conversion and pre-compression processing. In his role, Steve advised a number of broadcasters, postproduction studios, and movie studios on conversion, noise reduction, and 3:2 pull down. As content moved on-line, Steve moved into video transmission, storage, and distribution joining Level 3. Steve advised client on the best practices for online live broadcast and Video on Demand distribution, storage, and monetization. Steve also helped Siemens successfully spin off a software division focused on Over the Top TV (OTT). Currently, Steve is the Director of Business Development for the Media & Entertainment Group at Hewlett Packard Enterprise helping Hollywood virtualize and secure the process of production, post production and distribution of movies and episodic programs. Over the years, Steve has advised a number of start-up companies.

Fabian Birgfeld, founder and partner, W12 Studios: Fabian is founder and partner of W12 Studios. The agency was founded in 2012 in London with a strong focus on media and technology. W12 Studios has developed comprehensive design systems for the big screen, delivering content across the device ecosystem and has helped shape entirely new digital content formats for markets across the globe. W12 Studios' clients include Intel, Microsoft, NOS, Red Bull, Vodafone, BBC, Samsung, WatchWith, Beamly, Shazam, Verizon, and Okko among others.  Beforehand Fabian worked at frog design, Method and the BBC where he led the design teams for iPlayer, BBC News, BBC Sport and 2012 Olympics. Fabian has taught design and theory at Princeton University, Syracuse University and NJIT. His art and designs have been frequently exhibited in the US and Europe and won numerous awards. Born and raised in Germany, Fabian holds a BA in Economics from Harvard University and a graduate degree in Architecture from Princeton University.
