Prior to entering the online video space, Mike had a nearly 20-year career in the health care technology sector and, later, in mobile application development. Mobile application projects led to opportunities in the burgeoning YouTube space in the late 2000s.  Mike founded Bent Pixels in 2009, and the company has been bootstrapped and profitable since its first year.  Born and raised in Silicon Valley, Mike is a lifelong entrepreneur who has held diverse roles spanning sales, marketing, and management. He now lives with his wife and two children in Solana Beach, CA, and divides his work schedule among Bent Pixels' offices in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

 

Pablo Argon, Sr. Director, Technical Strategy IPTV, Ericsson TV Platforms: Pablo is a part of the CTO executive team at Solution Area TV and Media at Ericsson. In this role, he is responsible for the security architecture for the next generation IPTV service of Ericsson Mediaroom. Since 2006, Pablo has been working in the media and security sector for content distribution, with extensive expertise in content protection (DRM), video standards and streaming protocols. He has been involved in and is regular contributor to many industry standard services and programs including GSMA, OMA, DECE and BDA. Prior to Ericsson, Pablo worked at Microsoft as the manager lead for the PlayReady deployment team in the Business & Media Strategy group, and at Motorola as the EMEA Director of Technical Marketing. Pablo holds a PhD in Computer Science from Ecole Centrale, France.

 

Ben Lister, Chief Operating Officer, USA Rightster: Based in Los Angeles since early 2013, Ben’s current role at Rightster has been to build a USA business and team post Series B investment in Base79 in late 2012 by The Chernin Group and CAA’s ventures arm. This has resulted in hundreds of new partnerships with including a number of brands and studios including 20th Century Fox, NBC-Universal and most recently Paramount Pictures. Ben has also supported the international growth of the business and it’s multi-platform service offering by nurturing relationships with YouTube, Facebook, Spotify and Twitter where many of the emerging trends for native video growth are occurring. Ben works across a number of disciplines and functions of the business including deep knowledge of the YouTube and Facebook video platforms and eco-system, Rights Management, Audience Development, Channel and asset optimisation, Talent and Programming strategies, Brand partnerships, sponsorship and advertising sales, SVOD, AVOD, TVOD and general content proposition development for media businesses. Rightster works across multiple genres of content including Sports, Music, News and Film and Entertainment companies to help maximise their presence in digital video. Ben overseas management of the Rightster USA partnership portfolio of companies and individual professional video creators includes Jim Henson, KEXP, CAA, Reuters, Associated Press, World of Wonder, Obsev, The Lip.tv and a host if other high quality content producers.

 

Tom Carroux, Director of Business Development, Cryptography Research: is focused on protecting 4K UHD and early release content and preventing signal theft with the use of hardware security cores that are integrated within set-top box, smart TV and mobile chipsets. Cryptography Research’s hardware security cores reinforce any DRM or conditional access system and provide ‘smart card in the chipset’ security across devices, platforms and networks. Prior to Cryptography Research, Tom licensed content protection technology at Irdeto and Macrovision (now Rovi) to content owners, operators and consumer electronics manufacturers in North America, Asia and Europe. Tom has also held senior level business development and sales roles at such pioneering media technology companies as Dilithium, BitTorrent and PanAmSat. Tom is a graduate of Columbia University with a MBA in Finance and Marketing and lives in Silicon Valley.

Ori Birnbaum, Co-Founder, Whipclip: Ori has 15 years of experience in international business development and is considered a pioneer in online marketing and advertising. In 1996 Ori founded one of the first interactive agencies in Israel, and as an executive director at DC group High-Tech practice, incubated and founded several companies including a leading global advertising and affiliation network. Rajan Samtani, SVP, Sales & Bus Development, Peer Media Technologies: a leading anti-piracy services firm serving the filmed entertainment, music, and digital content publishing markets. Raj has more than 16 years of senior business development and strategic marketing experience in DRM, security, digital content identification, and intellectual property (IP) licensing. Prior to joining Peer Media, he was a senior Business Development consultant at Huawei. Prior to that, Raj was Senior Director, Business Development at Digimarc, where he was responsible for IP licensing, market development and building strategic partnerships in the audio/visual industries. Before Digimarc, Raj was at ContentGuard orchestrating the adoption of DRM and rights language technologies and standards for content owners, operators and device manufacturers.
