Randy Shaffer, West Region Senior Director, Xbox Advertising Sales, AOL: Randy Shaffer is the West Region Senior Director working on Xbox for AOL (a Verizon company) where he is focused on connecting brands with highly-engaged audiences across Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox LIVE, and Xbox on Windows. In his role at Microsoft Shaffer has served some of the biggest brands in the auto, entertainment and game publishing industries including Toyota, Disney and Electronic Arts (EA). To promote Disney’s TRON movie, Shaffer helped Disney develop the world’s first Kinect-enabled advertisement. His work also includes campaigns for such prominent brands as Lexus, Honda, KIA, Nissan, Hyundai, Nike, Ubisoft, Sega, T-Mobile, Microsoft, Sony Pictures, Fox, Paramount, Lionsgate, and Procter & Gamble. In addition to his passion for work, Shaffer is a gaming enthusiast with more than 55,000 Xbox achievements. Prior to AOL, Shaffer worked for Microsoft and advertising agencies Foote Cone Belding, RPA, Starcom Media Vest Group (SMG) / Play, a Denuo Company. A native of southern California, Shaffer holds a BA in Advertising Account Management from Chapman University in Orange County. When he is not working, Shaffer enjoys spending time with his son. Playing video games or road cycling.

 

Brian Lovell, Founder/CEO, Red Interactive Agency: Brian Lovell is a veteran of the digital industry. He is the founder of RED Interactive Agency, a client-focused and results-oriented digital agency, and is responsible for the company’s overall vision, strategy, culture and operations. Brian has an extensive background in digital strategy, design and technology, and has cultivated deep, long-term partnerships with a wide variety of global brands. Brian is committed to staying on the forefront of the latest trends and emerging technologies, and continues to expand and evolve RED's capabilities based on the changing needs of the industry and his passion for innovation. In 2013, he launched RED's internal game studio, RED Games, which has since created and launched nine award-winning mobile games into the market. Brian has been a featured speaker at several tech conferences and events such as Digital Entertainment World, TIFF, LA Games Conference, Disrupt Tech LA, Silicon Beach Fest, Collision, and Brand X, among others, and continues to be an ongoing contributor to the digital industry.

 

.James Field is Product Manager for Infinite Video, Cisco’s cloud hosted and managed platform for delivering live and on demand content to any device.  Prior to this role James was was responsible for business development and communication for the global New Initiatives Research & Development team which became part of Cisco through the NDS acquisition in 2013.  In this role, James lead the company’s partner program with Silicon Valley-based technology companies in pursuit of new technology developments, and is instrumental in delivering convergent solutions for NDS customers worldwide. In addition to this role, James was also responsible for devising and implementing a Green House Gas reduction initiative program from both a products and facilities perspective for NDS worldwide. James has been with in the digital media business for more than 20 years, and brings a particular focus to rich media services for embedded devices, their future and the server side technologies that drive them. Most recently, he served as Director of Solutions for NDS’ Asia Pacific region, and as a secondment Chief Operating Officer in the Beijing office, where he managed the specification and delivery of interactive and Digital TV solutions for the surrounding areas. Prior to joining NDS, James worked at STAR TV as a Technical Engineering Manager. In this role, he worked closely with local satellite and cable redistributors, and coordinated the operation set-up and support of direct-to-home (DTH) satellite networks in Indonesia and India, including Indovision Digital Installation Company, Asia's first digital DTH broadcaster. James spent his early career working as an engineer at Pan Asian Systems, Atlas Wireline Service and Marconi Defense Systems. James earned his Master's and Bachelor’s degrees in electrical and electronic engineering, both from the University of Bath. He has also attended Cranfield University’s School of Management and served as an Officer in the Corps of Royal Engineers in the British Army.

 

Nick Colsey, Vice President, Television Division, Sony Corporation: A veteran of Sony Electronics for 20 years, Mr. Colsey is an integral member of the team responsible for Sony’s successful BRAVIA Internet Video platform  and other  network service initiatives. In this capacity, he works with multiple Sony product categories to bring the connected experience to consumers worldwide.

 

Richard Cusick, Chief Product Officer, Gracenote: As Chief Product Officer, Rich is responsible for the development and delivery of Gracenote products worldwide. Previously, Rich was General Manager of Video for Gracenote and Tribune Media Services (TMS), which merged in 2014 following Tribune’s acquisition of Gracenote from Sony. Prior to joining Gracenote, Rich was Vice President of Entertainment and Women’s Lifestyles at Yahoo! where he more than doubled original content and spearheaded the launch of new entertainment properties through partnerships with CBS. Rich has served in a variety of general management, strategic planning and business development positions at Rovi Corporation, which acquired Gemstar-TV Guide. As SVP and General Manager of Digital Media, he increased annual online revenue by more than $20MM and grew traffic by 40 percent in two years. Rich earned a BA in history from Harvard University, an MPhil from Cambridge University and a JD and MBA from The Ohio State University.

 

Jonathan Hurd, Director, Altman Vilandrie & Company: Jonathan Hurd has been a Director at Altman Vilandrie & Company (AV&Co.)—a 120+-person strategy consulting firm focused on technology, media, and telecom—since 2006.  Jonathan has more than 25 years of consulting and industry experience in communications, media and related technology sectors.  Jonathan’s primary areas of expertise include corporate strategy, product innovation, marketing management, customer segmentation, pricing strategy, and new business planning and development.  Jonathan has recently been leading AV&Co.’s unique proprietary consumer survey and simulation techniques to analyze the impact of “skinny bundles” of TV channels.  He has been working with video distributors on product design and pricing of traditional and “over-the-top” video services, and has advised several broadcast and cable TV networks on product and pricing strategy for direct-to-consumer offers.  Prior to joining AV&Co., Jonathan was a Vice President with ADVENTIS, a TMT-focused strategy firm.  Before that, he was a Partner in the Communication, Information and Entertainment practice of Mercer Management Consulting.  Jonathan has also served as Vice President of Marketing for a computer peripherals manufacturer, and held marketing and strategic planning positions at Lotus Development Corporation.  In addition, he has served as a software development product manager in industries including financial services, computer peripherals, and video game development—he designed and created the Atari arcade video game “Food Fight”.  Jonathan received a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT, where his thesis advisor was Nicholas Negroponte of the Media Lab, and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he received First Year Honors.  He is a member of the Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honor Society and the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
